Meet Kerry O’Meara

Registered Psychotherapist

She/Her

I deeply admire the strength and resilience it takes to move toward a more connected, healed, and fulfilling life. Before my career in mental health, I spent over a decade as a Child and Youth Care (CYC) worker, artist, and arts educator. This diverse background has given me a strong appreciation for creativity and self-expression, which I integrate into my therapeutic work. I believe that no single approach works for everyone, so I prioritize understanding your unique needs and crafting a personalized path forward.

I provide therapy to teens and adults navigating challenges such as trauma, attachment, anxiety, depression, anger, stress, and life transitions. My work is rooted in a deep understanding of how trauma affects both the mind and body, and I am committed to supporting you in releasing the emotional burdens that can hinder healing.

I understand how difficult it can be to release the grip of anger, hurt, and worry, and how these emotions can create barriers to fully enjoying life. Having faced my own fears around change, my goal is to help you better understand yourself, cultivate self-love, and deepen your relationships in a healthy way with others.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with a Master’s in Counselling Psychology and certification in Trauma-Focused Therapy. My training includes Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Attachment-Focused modalities.

Throughout my journey, I have been dedicated to understanding myself—how my past experiences and environment have shaped me, and how I can access the tools to become the best version of myself. My hope is to share these lessons with you. Together, we can nurture a more compassionate and healed view of yourself and create a hopeful, empowered vision for your future.

I have always had a sense of curiosity about the world, which led me to travel extensively after high school, seeking to broaden my perspective and deepen my understanding of my place in it. While I now embrace a slower, more grounded pace, I continue to delight in learning, meeting new people, and embracing fresh experiences.

Please feel free to book a 20-minute no-fee consultation to explore if we are a good fit!

Sitting with feelings, especially difficult ones, is a hard but important skill. Tolerating and soothing difficult feelings until they pass is an important skill that for most people is not taught or modeled well in our society that tends to avoid intense feelings. 💪🏽This ability bolsters our other skills of practicing grace, processing our emotions and allowing ourselves to move forwards towards the goals and life we want to curate. It’s important to explore and be curious about the emotions we are experiencing, to recognize what they are, to allow yourself to feel them. All emotions can be observed and supported with compassion until the feelings lesson.✨#emotionfocusedtherapy #therapytoronto #therapiststoronto #southasiantherapist #
