We acknowledge that the land we are meeting on is the traditional territory of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabe, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples. It is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit.

Grounding techniques are tools that help regulate your nervous system by engaging your senses. When anxiety takes over, your body may go into “fight, flight, or freeze.”Bringing awareness to your surroundings helps signal to your brain that you are safe in this moment.Try this 5-4-3-2-1 method:
5 things you can see
4 things you can touch
3 things you can hear
2 things you can smell
1 thing you can tasteSlow your breath between each one and allow your body to settle. ✨✨✨#grounding #anxietyrelief #mindfulness #mentalhealth #selfcare #mentalwellness #stressrelief #calm #therapytools #mindfulmoment #presentmoment #mentalhealthawareness #selfregulation

You weren’t the problem child, you were the child communicating the problem.

Many of us grew up in environments where pain was unspoken and emotions were misunderstood. Acting out, shutting down, or being “difficult” was often our way of signaling that something wasn’t right. What looked like defiance was often distress.
What looked like drama was often trauma.Healing means honoring the child who was trying to be heard, and giving yourself the support they never received. Therapy can be a place to start making sense of it all. You don’t have to carry this alone. At Shanti, we’re here to hold space for the stories underneath the behaviours. 🧠 What is Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR)?

DBR is a cutting-edge, neuroscience-informed trauma therapy that helps people process unresolved trauma by working with the brainstem, the part of the brain responsible for our most instinctive survival responses.Unlike traditional therapy, DBR doesn’t start with the story of what happened. Instead, it gently tracks the sequence of internal reactions that occurred at the time of the trauma, beginning with the body’s orienting response to a perceived threat, followed by tension and emotional shock.By helping the nervous system complete these original protective responses in a safe and supported way, DBR allows for deep healing at the level where trauma is first held, often without the need to relive or retell painful memories in detail. If you’re feeling stuck in patterns of fear, hypervigilance, emotional shutdown, or reactivity, DBR might be a helpful path forward. Reach out to us at Shanti to learn more or book a consultation.#dbrtherapy #deepbrainreorientingtherapy #deepbrainreorienting #traumatherapy #traumahealing #intergenerationaltrauma
