Meet Deepika Rastogi

Registered Psychotherapist

RP

She/Her

As a South Asian immigrant, I understand firsthand the profound impact that cultural identities and intersectionality have on mental health. I deeply understand that navigating the challenges of living in a dual world is not easy. Over time, I have come to realize that there is no perfect balance—that my cultural identity is fluid and continuously evolving.

As your therapist, my goal is to create a safe space where you can step outside your comfort zone while I gently help you uncover blind spots that may be hindering your growth. I know what it’s like to long for someone who walks alongside you, neither in front nor behind. Let’s explore together if I can be that person for you, guiding you through a journey of exploration, self-awareness, and healing from the challenges that keep you stuck.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). From my 8 years of counselling experience with high school/university students to working with community mental health agencies, I can support you with a wide range of challenges and lead you to the steps needed for healthy change. Issues include school-based struggles for youth, major mental illness, depression, trauma, anxiety, life transitions, family conflicts, eating disorders, low self-esteem, emotional dysregulation and more

My skills are in working with teens, university students, adults, and families, offering individual, group, and crisis services

I believe that each person is unique, which is why I approach therapy with a flexible, trauma-informed lens. I blend techniques such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Narrative Therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches to meet each person where they are. I am committed to using a culturally responsive framework that honours and values your lived experiences and personal identity. My core values in therapy are the “4 Cs”: being client-centred, compassionate, curious, and collaborative.

I understand that reaching out for support can feel intimidating, and finding someone who truly understands your needs can be even more challenging. By visiting this website, you’ve already taken a meaningful step toward getting the help you deserve. To explore if we’re a good fit, I offer a free 20-minute consultation to discuss how I can support you on your journey.

When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me enjoying a peaceful walk, experimenting with new recipes, jamming to my favourite music, or spending quality time with family and friends. These simple joys help me stay grounded and connected to what truly matters.

Sitting with feelings, especially difficult ones, is a hard but important skill. Tolerating and soothing difficult feelings until they pass is an important skill that for most people is not taught or modeled well in our society that tends to avoid intense feelings. 💪🏽This ability bolsters our other skills of practicing grace, processing our emotions and allowing ourselves to move forwards towards the goals and life we want to curate. It’s important to explore and be curious about the emotions we are experiencing, to recognize what they are, to allow yourself to feel them. All emotions can be observed and supported with compassion until the feelings lesson.✨#emotionfocusedtherapy #therapytoronto #therapiststoronto #southasiantherapist #
