Meet Cherry Wang

Registered Social Worker

MSW RSW

She/Her

If you’ve been feeling anxious, homesick, overwhelmed by anxiety and overthinking or isolated in your social world; you’re not alone. Maybe you’re juggling pressure from peers, family or school, feeling disconnected in your relationships, or noticing old wounds resurfacing in unexpected ways. I see how heavy that can feel, and I’m here to help you sort through it, one step at a time. Whatever brings you here, know this: you don’t have to navigate it alone. With the right support, even the heaviest struggles can begin to feel lighter.

My passion is to provide therapy for couples, families, adults, teens and international/university/college students.

My lived experience as a first-generation immigrant from China, a former student, a woman, a working adult, a daughter, and a spouse allows me to deeply understand these challenges and how to navigate them. In fact, they shaped me to be the therapist that I am, and I’m here to offer a space where you can slow down, be honest, feel heard, and start to find your way, at your own pace. I bring a research-based, calm, steady presence to my practice and a genuine curiosity about who you are, beneath the roles, expectations and survival strategies you’ve learned to carry.

My Therapy Style– Empathic, Integrative & Empowered

I’m a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto, and I’ve spent the past 5 years supporting clients, couples and families through anxiety, depression, academic and career stress, relationship and family struggles, intergenerational trauma and eating disorders.

My approach is person-centred, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive. I draw from multiple evidence-based models, including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Attachment-based approaches, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Mindfulness, and Psychodynamic concepts; tailored to your unique needs.

I’m fluent in both Mandarin and English, and I encourage you to choose the language that feels the most comfortable for you during our work together.

A Little About Me

I came to Toronto myself when I was only 15, and I am shaped by both Eastern and Western ways of understanding, healing, identity, and resilience. My lived experiences as a third-culture person help me to understand and connect with clients navigating all kinds of challenges and expectations in life. I believe therapy isn’t about “fixing” you! Therapy is about helping you reconnect with your inner strength, clarity, and capacity for growth. I believe in the power of healing, and I carry a deep respect for the strength it takes to begin (or begin again) the journey of therapy. Outside of therapy, I enjoy singing, music, taking long walks, doing crafts and DIY projects!

If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d be honoured work with you to shift the issues that are difficult in your life. Please feel free to book a no-charge 20-minute consultation to explore if we are a good fit!

Sitting with feelings, especially difficult ones, is a hard but important skill. Tolerating and soothing difficult feelings until they pass is an important skill that for most people is not taught or modeled well in our society that tends to avoid intense feelings. 💪🏽This ability bolsters our other skills of practicing grace, processing our emotions and allowing ourselves to move forwards towards the goals and life we want to curate. It’s important to explore and be curious about the emotions we are experiencing, to recognize what they are, to allow yourself to feel them. All emotions can be observed and supported with compassion until the feelings lesson.✨#emotionfocusedtherapy #therapytoronto #therapiststoronto #southasiantherapist #
