Meet Nirupa Thana

Registered Social Worker

MSW RSW

She/Her

Being raised as a South Asian immigrant woman has guided my practice in order to provide culturally sensitive support to my clients by integrating my own lived experiences along with an anti-oppressive, cultural, religious and spiritual framework.

With over 15 years of experience as a therapist, I can help you address personal, life, and mental health challenges. I offer personalized approaches tailored to your needs to help you attain the personal growth you are striving for.

I specialize in Individual (12 years +), Couples and Family Therapy and work with a broad spectrum of clients.

My experience includes working with clients who have been impacted by trauma, complex trauma, attachment issues, abuse and mental health such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, low self-worth etc. I am very excited to integrate EMDR with clients to reprocess traumatic memories in a safe and supportive environment.

Additionally, I draw on various evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Somatic Therapy, Solution-Focused and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).

To have an effective work-life balance, on a personal level, I enjoy spending time with my two children, family, and friends and being involved in community advocacy work.

Do you find yourself replaying conversations, expecting the worst, or getting stuck in the same thoughts over and over again?Anxiety can make it difficult to switch off, even when you know your thoughts aren’t helping. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps you identify unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge them, and develop practical tools to respond differently.Learn how CBT can help you break free from cycles of worry and build healthier ways of coping.📞 Book a free consultation to learn more: https://www.shantipsychotherapy.ca/#CBT #AnxietySupport #Overthinking #MentalHealthSupport #Psychotherapy

“Narcissism” is a word we hear often — but it’s more than confidence or a big ego.
Narcissistic patterns can include manipulation, lack of accountability, and a strong need for admiration, often leaving others feeling confused, invalidated, or emotionally drained.Understanding these dynamics can help you recognize what’s happening and begin to set healthier boundaries.
You are allowed to protect your well-being.If you’re struggling in a relationship impacted by these patterns, therapy can provide support, clarity, and tools to move forward.Learn more on our website, in a blog post by Registered Psychotherapist Rashmi Kumar!#narcissism #mentalhealth #therapy #boundaries selfawareness healing emotionalhealth psychotherapy
